Tuesday Race Night - Bike/Run

Tuesday 18:30 - Kilometer Zero Olympic Cycling Track
SIGN UP ON THE REGISTRATION SITE

Fortnightly throughout the season, our Tuesday night training is a timed duathlon, time trial or team time trial. Call this what you like - brick training, transition practice, tempo training. Or some would even call it a race! These are club member events for which club championship points are awarded. Results are only available for those who bring a timing chip. Details of this training are shared in the weekly newsletter and on our members' Whatsapp group.

Routes and Races

Bike routes are on an out-and-back route, starting and finishing at kilometer zero. Turn points are the painted distance markers on the track and are unmanned so use your bike computer to alert you to when you are approaching the marker.
Enticer: 1KM (2 laps) | 12 KM (turn at 6km marker) | 1KM (2 laps)
Sprint: 2KM (4 laps) | 20 KM (turn at 10km marker) | 2KM (4 laps)
Maxi: 2KM (4 laps) | 30 KM (turn at 15km marker) | 2KM (4 laps)

Safety

These are training events on a track open to other cyclists. Show courtesy and save your race-head for when it really matters!

  • ESSENTIAL!! Be careful to check behind and ahead when making the U-turn, in particular for those turning at the 6km mark.
  • Be prepared to slow down and pass with caution if cyclists are standing around chatting at kilometer zero.
  • Front and rear lights are strongly advised and helmets mandatory
  • Parents: juniors are welcome to participate but please ensure they understand how to participate safely

Saturday Open-Water Swim/Run

Saturday Morning - Meet by the beach at Fit Island, Doha Sands Beach Club
Parking in numerous bays along this road

We are lucky enough to be welcomed by Fit Island to use their beach on Saturday mornings and this is an ideal opportunity to get your open water practice in, or simply enjoy a swim unconstrained by lane ropes. It can be hard getting up early on Saturday but it is always worth it! Most weeks this is an informal sea swim followed by a group run at various paces but Saturdays are also when we hold occasional aquathlons or swim races. Juniors are welcome to join the session but parents are responsible for their supervision and safety - some will swim while other play on the sand with their TriClub friends.

This session is normally uncoached but look out for communications about open water practice drills and coaching.
The start time varies between 6am and 8am depending on the time of year. See the weekly newsletter for details.
