Swim for a cause 910x600

Our member-only aquathlons are a highlight and a benefit of Triclub Doha membership - free, timed race events taking placed place roughly once a month. They are a great way to check your progress over the season and prepare for triathlons, particularly open-water events. The swim and run are lap-based, for a more social vibe, and hopefully you can see your lap times improve over the season. These are low key races; no medals, no podiums, but participation and position earn points towards the Club Championship. Remember to bring your timing chip as we can't guarantee that you'll feature in the results without it.

Location

We are lucky to have the support of the Sharq Village and Spa to hold our aquathlons and then treat ourselves to breakfast at a discounted rate afterwards. On arrival at the hotel, park in the main car park and make your way to the west (city) end of the beach.

Route

The SWIM follows an approximately 500m clockwise lap around four bouys. The last of these is to prevent you leaving the water early. There is one additional sighting bouy for guidance on the way out, and on the way back the waterpolo goals perform a similar function.
Complete as many laps as required but, after each, perform an Australian exit. This is where you must leave the water and pass over the timing line before starting the next lap.

For safety and water confidence, the Kids/Beginner swim course is along the shoreline from one end of the beach to the other.

The RUN is over an out-and-back course which heads out around the car park, passes in front of the hotel, thens turn left before the exit road, goes around the roundabout and returns the way you came. From roundabout to roundabout and back is 1.25km. Complete as many laps as required for your race distance.

Dress appropriately; no bare chests, tri suit or shirt over swim suit.
Timing Starts when your chip crosses start line - a late start isn't a problem
